I did it!! I Finished my half scale Fairfield!

The Fairfield Kit

After 8 months, I finally finished building my 1/2 scale Fairfield dollhouse. This was my first build ever, so with all the customization, it took a lot of researching and a lot of time, but it was all worth it. I'm happy of how it turned out; I love it so much! I wish I lived in a house like this. I also love how it's the perfect size; it doesn't take a lot of space.

In details.

The house is still work in progress since I have yet to  furnish and decorate the rooms, so I will be posting updates here and there. Here are some photos of the house. My sister helped me with these photos; she used her nice SLR camera. Definitely the quality is way better than my 5 year old digital camera. Please click on the image to view it bigger.

Sparkly Critters

I remember as a kid, every Christmas, I used to get craft kits from my parents. Anything from clay, beads, friendship bracelets, shrink art,  Perler beads, you name it. My sisters and I  would spend hours on Christmas morning crafting and making a huge mess on the kitchen table. But , I gotta say, my favorite was always the bead jewelry kit because I loved anything sparkly and shiny, plus I got to wear what I made!

Even to this day, I love my beads. Especially Swarovski crystal beads; they are the best quality crystal beads with the most sparkle. I can actually distinguish between non swarovski beads versus the cheaper brands.

Since they are super expensive at a regular craft store, I buy my beads at a wholesale bead store in bulk to save money.  Here are some of my creations that I made into cellphone charms:

Pink Panther

Kangaroo Duo

Miniature Schnauzer

Pig

Cherry

Corgi

Hello Kitty

Heart

Mouse

Easter Bunny

Sunday Funday Breakfast

Every Sunday, I try to make nice breakfast for my man.  Anything I make for him, I try to make it as healthy as I can. Today, I made some strawberry oatmeal pancakes, since it's strawberry season. I always buy strawberries at the farmers market because they carry the sweetest and the yummiest ones! To accompany my pancakes, I also made cinnamon brown sugar butter (my love is a huge fan of cinnamon).

They were so delicious! The oatmeal gives a nutty flavor to the pancakes. A hearty and healthy breakfast! This recipe is definitely a keeper! I hope you enjoy them as much as we did. Here is the recipe:

Strawberry Oatmeal Pancakes
Ingredients:
  • 1/2 C. of all purpose flour
  • 1/2 C. Quick cooking rolled oats
  • 1 T. sugar
  • 1 tsp. baking powder
  • 1/2 tsp. baking soda
  • 1/4 tsp. salt
  • 3/4 C. milk
  • 1 tsp. vanilla
  • 2 T. melted butter
  • 1 egg
  • 1 C. of chopped strawberries
  1. Soak the oats in the milk overnight.
  2. Mix the flour, sugar. baking powder, baking soda, and salt in a bowl
  3. In another bowl, combine and mix the egg, melted butter, vanilla and the oats/milk mixture. Add the wet ingredients to the dry ingredients and mix until combined. let it set for 5 to 10 min.
  4. Using a 1/4 C. measuring cup, pour the batter onto a greased griddle on a med-low heat. Top the pancake with the chopped strawberries. When you see the batter bubble, flip it to cook the other side.
Cinnamon Brown Sugar Butter

Ingredients:
  • 1/2 C. of butter ( 1 stick), softened at room temp.
  • 1 T. brown sugar
  • 1/2 tsp. cinnamon
  • 1/4 t. salt
Combine and mix all the ingredients together. Put the mixture on a saran wrap and roll it into a log. Twist the sides and put it in the fridge or the freezer to harden. Cut and serve on top of the pancakes.

Fairfield Dollhouse

Currently, I'm building the 1/2 scale Fairfield dollhouse from GreenLeaf Company I bought from Amazon.com

This is my first build ever, so I have done a lot of research to make sure my first dollhouse turns out perfect.  I'm totally customizing it, so it's taking a long time (started in November of 2010), but I'm almost done and I'm happy of how it turned out so far.

I really wish I had started this blog earlier so I could've posted my progress. Oh well, I will for my next dollhouse.  I will be posting photos of the complete Fairfield, so check back.

Welcome!

Hello and welcome to my blog! Here, I will be posting my current craft projects, recipes and more. Pretty much anything that delights me!
